Who are you?

I'm a recent college graduate. After reading all the recent news articles on the problems of high textbook prices, I thought I'd share what worked for me in college. I've contributed some tutorials on the forum. I hope it helps some of you out. For me, this has also been a good exercise in how to build a website using XHTML and CSS while also organizing, critiquing and passing along some useful information that will help some students save money.

Isn't this just a stupid link site?

I don't think so. The internet is wild with options. This site organizes them in a democratic way. If you're a shrewd shopper, like I try to be, you'll save time and money. In addition, TextbookPOWER allows you to share new ideas about how to save. Finally, I'm hoping this site increases awareness of some of the new sites that offer alternatives like textbook renting and trading on your own campus.

Is TextbookPOWER impartial?

Yes. I've allowed users to vote on the sites they've had the most success with in an effort to democratize this site and the information on it. While sites are ranked, TextbookPOWER does not have a favorable relationship with any one textbook-selling site.

Why the name TextbookPOWER?

It was a joke name, but it stuck because I couldn't think of anything else. I wanted something positive, but TextbookPOSITIVE sounded more like the early form of a disease than the name of a website. Email me your name suggestions for the site if you have a beef with it.
